Kyusu Kuroshinju Loose-Leaf Teapot

The Kyusu Kuroshinju is a traditional Japanese loose-leaf teapot with a distinctive side handle. The word "kyusu" literally translates to "pot" or "teapot", which is why in Japan the name can also refer to other types of tea-brewing vessels. The Kyusu Kuroshinju is made from clay and stands out with its glossy black glaze, with the clay's natural rust-red tone peeking through at the edges. Inside, a metal strainer keeps the leaves from spilling into your cup as you pour.

The Kyusu Kuroshinju teapot is an example of Banko ware, produced in Yokkaichi, Aichi Prefecture - a region renowned for its clay vessels.

How to use a kyusu teapot?

Add the right amount of loose-leaf tea inside and brew according to the instructions on the packaging. Pour the brewed tea into your favorite cup or bowl. You can either re-steep the used leaves or dispose of them in your food waste.
