Furoshiki: Japanese Gift Wrapping Cloth

Furoshiki is a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth and a stylish alternative to wrapping paper and single-use gift bags. It's used to wrap or carry all kinds of items, but it can just as easily serve as a decorative piece. Since furoshiki are usually made from silk or cotton, they can be used again and again. Fun fact: the name comes from the words "furo" (bath) and "shiki" (to spread out), as the Japanese originally used these cloths to bundle up their clothes while bathing in hot springs.

Daruma Furoshiki

The pattern features traditional Japanese Daruma dolls, believed to bring good luck and ward off misfortune. They're modeled after Bodhidharma, the semi-legendary monk credited with founding Zen Buddhism.

The Daruma furoshiki is made in Japan from 100% cotton. It's a 48 cm square, which makes it just the right size to wrap, for example, two packs of our loose-leaf teas.
